SIZES: The Dachshund comes in two sizes: Standard and Miniature

Ideal weight:

• Standard: 9-12 kgs (20-26 lbs).

• Miniature ideal weight: 5kgs.

 

COATS: There are three coat types:

• Smooth

• Long

• Wire

NOTE: Each of these types are separate breeds and should not be cross bred. To mix the types (and crossbreed) is to introduce potential health issues that otherwise would not be expected in future generations.
